Tanisha’s parents are the late Somu Mukherjee and actress Tanuja. The top Bollywood actress Kajol is her sister. In 1995, Tanishaa started out her career as a VJ for Channel V. She used to anchor the famous show called BPL Oye.She made her debut in films with Sssshhh... opposite Dino Morea. The film did not do well. Even her subsequent releases didn't fare well at the box office.The film Sarkar by Ram Gopal Varma, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan was the Tanisha's first major hit. Tanisha did a major role as the female lead in the film, Neal 'N' Nikki, opposite Uday Chopra. Her role in the recent Tamil movie Unnale Unnale has been appreciated.
