The film loosely follows the original Devdas but has been made quite differently to befit modern times. Dev Singh (Abhay Deol) is the son of a multi-millionaire who sends him away to London when he is too much trouble. Paro (Mahi Gill) is his childhood sweetheart. When Dev sees a nude picture of Paro on his mail, he drops everything and returns home. But Dev finds Paro's overtures quite suspicious and believes that she has had an affair. And it is not that he has not had one. But a fed up Paro walks out on him and gets married to an elderly widower with two kids. Dev takes to drinks and drugs. Later, Chunni (Dibyendu Bhattacharya), a pimp, introduces Dev to Chanda (Kalki Koechlin) who is a college student who makes money on the side as a call girl. Will Chanda and Dev find happiness with each other?
