Doing research for his third, Mike decides to check out the fabled room 1408 in a New York hotel. Mike strongly believes that the story floating around about the dangers lying in the room is a myth perpetuated by rumours. Despite strong objections from the hotel manager Gerald Olin (Samuel L. Jackson), Mike takes the room for 24 hours. The manager knows for a fact that no guest leaves room 1408 alive. Will Mike survive to write his third book?
