The Fellowship splits up to conquer. Frodo (Elijah Wood) and Sam (Sean Astin), along with the hindering Gollum (Andy Serkis) continue on their way to Mount Doom to destroy the Ring. Gandalf and Pippin ride to Minas Tirith to help defend Gondor. Merry stays with Eowyn and the other fighters. All these battles have just one aim - to distract the Eye of Sauron while Frodo destroys the Ring.
