The year - 2078. The planet - Sirius 6B. Two companies are at war for the rights to mine a precious ore on this distant planet. This is no Dune. What's left after a nuclear war is a distant mining town where the war's survivors are made playthings of the Screamers - shape-shifting mechanical creatures who's main job is to slice and dice all life-forms in their path. Thrown in to make ife on the field a little more exciting, these anti-personnel weapons are upgrading themselves to frightful levels, creating a problem or even their makers. They have begun altering their shapes intelligently by turning themselves into little switchblade-handy children wanting some play with unsuspecting soldiers. Peter Weller plays a lieutenant left on the radiation-stripped planet after the main war.
