Víctor Zapata (born 20 January, 1979 in San Martín, Buenos Aires) is a left footed Argentine football midfielder. He currently plays for Velez Sarsfield of the Primera Division Argentina. Zapata started his career in 1998 with Argentinos Juniors, a club that has produced many talented players of the last 30 years. In 1999 Zapata moved to River Plate where he won four league titles during his first spell with the club. In 2003 he spent a season with Real Valladolid in La Liga in Spain, he returned to River after Valladolid were relegated at the end of the season. In 2007 Zapata joined Vélez Sársfield in a free transfer after River denied the possibility of extending his contract.
