In his first interview after taking on Press Council Chairman Markandey Katju, BJP senior leader Arun Jaitley questioned Katju's view. In an exclusive interview with TIMES NOW's Editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami, Jaitley listed reasons for attacking Katju. Jaitley asked how a person occupying a quasi judicial body can participates in politics. However, in his defence, Jaitley said that Katju's views on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the article amount to political participation.<br></br>On Sunday (February 17), the BJP leader and PCI chairman were locked in a war of words over an article by Katju against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi after Jaitley said that his attacks on non-Congress governments whether in West Bengal, Bihar or Gujarat seem more in the nature of "thanks-giving" to those who provided him with a post-retirement job." He demanded that Katju resign from his post. The Press Council of India Chief hit back at Jaitley accusing him of twisting facts and asked him to quit politics.
