PM, Sonia review flood-hit areas in Assam

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh made a tour of the flood hit Assam, to access the situation. They made an aerial survey of the flooded areas and were accompanied by CM of Assam Tarun Gogoi. The Prime Minister announced Rs 500 crore support for the state for relief operations. He said, "We have made an aerial survey in the Jorhat district. The people of Assam are facing the greatest flood in the recent times. Over 19 lakh people have been affected. The Centre is closely working with the state team in relief management."
