One way Christians today can become like the fundamentalist Ephesians is if we pit truth and love against each other. Jesus came with grace and truth, and so we need to speak the truth, but wrapped in an airbag of love, otherwise we're going to decimate people. If we have grace and love when we speak, then we invite them to turn from sin, meet with God and his people, and have their lives changed through the power of the Holy Spirit.
This clip is excerpted from the sermon "Fundamentalist in Ephesus: All Head, No Heart," part #3 of our current sermon series, the Seven. It was preached out of Revelation 2:1--7 by Pastor Mark Driscoll in front of the ruins of the Celsus Library in Ephesus, Turkey. It was released online on April 30.
