Vilasrao Dagadojirao Deshmukh (Marathi: विलासराव दगडोजीराव देशमुख), popularly known as Vilasrao is an Indian politician and the current Minister of Science and Technology and Minister of Earth Sciences. He hails from Latur in Maharashtra, India, where he has a political stronghold. He is a member of the Indian National Congress.
He is also a member of the Rajya Sabha, representing Maharashtra. Vilasrao Deshmukh has held the post of Chief Minister of Maharashtra twice - once from 1999 to 2003 and consecutively from 2004 to 2008.
On 7 August 2012, Deshmukh was reported critically ill with kidney and liver failures. He was undergoing treatment at Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai for about a week and had to be shifted to Global Hospitals, a super-speciality hospital in Chennai owing to his deteriorating condition.
