Zeenat Aman's father was Amanullah, who was one of the scriptwriters for Mughal-e-Azam. Her father passed away when she was 13 years old.She graduated from St Xavier’s College, Mumbai. She married the actor Mazhar Khan in October 1985 and they had two children Azaan and Zahaan. Later just before Mazhar Khan passed away Zeenat Aman had filed for a divorce.Zeenat Aman entered the Miss India contest in 1970 and was the third runner up. She went on to participate in the Miss Asia Pacific. She was the first Indian to ever win that title.From portraying the gutsy hippie in Hare Rama Hare Krishna, the sensuous nightclub singer in Qurbani to the sex symbol in Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Zeenat Aman was the embodiment of exotic yet earthy Indian sensuality.Zeenat was one of the biggest hot-steppers on the ramp till Dev Anand, who was on the lookout for a chic vibrant debutante in his film Hare Ram Hare Krishna gave her career a new lease of life. Her roles in Manoranjan, Yaadon Ki Baraat, Dhund and Roti Kapda Aur Makaan sent her success graph soaring to dizzying heights. She received another Filmfare nomination as Best Actress for the controversial hit film Insaaf Ka Tarazu (1980), where she played a justice-seeking rape survivor.She played leading lady to the likes of Amitabh Bachchan in Don and Laawaris, which also gave a major boost to her career. Her films Dostana, The Great Gambler, Ram Balram and Dharam Veer however went largely unnoticed.
