It got to be a big day today! Business baron Vijay Mallya, who fled from the country after a defaulting on a loan of Rs 9000 crore taken for his airlines Kingfisher, is to be extradited to India. Mallya left India in 2016 after the banks began legal proceedings to recover loans given to him. On Monday, a UK court ruled in favour of the fugitive businessman being handed to Indian courts and put through fraud investigations. Meanwhile, this has triggered a chain of mixed reactions on Twitter.
The thing about Twitterati is, they always know the agenda. While some of them are of the opinion that this was a massive win for the Narendra Modi Government (especially ahead of the 2019 elections), some are simply happy to troll Rahul Gandhi. Some, on the other hand, are digging meme material. Whatever the case may be, we are in awe of the humour here! If not for Twitter, one would not have known that even serious affairs, such as this, could be turned into comedy! Check out the best ones.
Mallya, repeatedly, has offered the banks on Twitter to repay 100% of the loans, but only ended up inviting trolls. Mumbai's Arthur Road Jail, considered one of the best in terms of the facility in India, which also hosted 26/11 accused Ajmal Kasab during his conviction, is gearing up with adequate security for the Kingfisher founder. We hear it will be a stay with all necessary modern facilities including Mallya's access to a library, television and a courtyard. Quite sure tons of more memes are on the way. Read More
