Aamir Khan is often credited to have unlocked the Chinese box office for Bollywood with successive films like 3 Idiots, Dangal and Secret Superstar. But now it seems like the star has gone beyond the box office in the land of dragons. His recognizable face in China is also bringing him endorsements by Chinese brands. The actor is now reported to have replaced Ranveer Singh as the face of Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Vivo, in India.
“We are thrilled about the possibilities that our partnership with one of the world’s biggest superstars, Aamir Khan, will open up for Vivo in India. This new association will enable us to explore newer avenues to reach our customers as we script our future growth strategy in India,” said Kenny Zeng, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of the Vivo India. Aamir dethroned Ranveer from the Vivo throne after two years.
Aamir added that, “Vivo as a brand embodies the spirit of innovation and meaningful disruption. Over the years, the brand has been constantly pushing the boundaries of smartphone technology. I am enthused to be a part of Vivo’s transformative journey in India.”
On the work front, the actor is currently in the last leg of his shoot for Thugs of Hindostan which also stars Katrina Kaif and Amitabh Bachchan. While little has been revealed from the film in terms of look, the movie is said to be period based adventure drama. It is expected to see a November 7 release this year.
