Armed Forces Flag Day commemorates every year on December 7 and marks the solidarity of the nation with our soldiers. The day is used to thank them for putting their lives ahead of us to protect us. However, this year a special week long campaign has been planned with an aim to voluntarily generate funds for families of ex-servicemen (ESM).
The Defence Ministry is also launching a mega campaign on social media from December 1 to 7 to encourage people to wear the Armed Forces' flag to show their support and solidarity with the military. The campaign aims to increase contributions to the 'Armed Forces Flag Day Fund' which will be used to support disabled ex-servicemen, war widows, children of martyrs and other such beneficiaries. Voluntary donations are being collected as a token of respect for their contribution to the nation.
Akshay Kumar, who has previously launched ‘bharatkeveer.gov.in’ at Vigyan Bhawan, a platform where general public could donate money to families of martyrs of central paramilitary forces, has taken up this initiative. He took to social media to urge the public for donations that would go towards the families of ESM. The donations can be made through online payment link - http://ksb.gov.in/fundPayment.htm. The donations can also be made through UPI Code - armedforcesflagdayfund@sbi, PAYTM Number – 8800462175 and Cheque - Account Number - 34420400623, SBI RK Puram branch.
Varun Dhawan also joined the initiative and took to twitter to share a video.
