TiWe all have secret dreams of being on magazine covers, for Donald Trump, it has particularly been an infatuation to be on TIME magazine. Rumours suggest the President of United States of America even has a photoshopped cover of the magazine with himself on it. On Saturday, he publicly confirmed his dreams of being on the cover in a Twitter rant that could have only been composed by a 5-year-old after his ego was hurt.
Trump in the tweet claimed he received a call from TIME magazine saying there was a possibility that he might be chosen as the TIME’s 2017 Person of the Year. But the word ‘possibility’ hurt his ego sorely as he dismissed the call because the President of the Free World does not live on possibility but on confirmation. He went on to say that he declined an interview and a ‘major photoshoot’ with the magazine. While his predecessors like Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and John F Kennedy have made it to the cover page, Trump remains that kid in class who has not been given a gold star by the teacher.
Trump’s hilarious Tweet snow balled trolls on Twitter with several celebrities joining the trolling by copy pasting his Tweet to say they too have been called to be TIME’s Person of the year. Those joining the league included veteran actor Mark Hamil, Wimbledon champion Andy Murray, director Stephen King, American comedian Billy Eichner and others.
While the magazine will announce its Person of the Year on Dec 6 when the magazine hits stands, it has confirmed through a spokesperson that the President’ claim of the phone call is incorrect. We in the meantime wonder if this should be called the phone prank of the year if Trump did get a call. Read More
