Actor Arjun Kapoor is one of the biggest football lovers we have in Bollywood. Now the actor has taken his love for football a step forward and has become the proud co-owner of FC Pune City franchise. With this, the team's three-year association with Hrithik Roshan has ended. The timing of Arjun's entry and Hrithik's exit has many raising eyebrows. Does it have to do with the club’s losing streak in all three seasons?
The club has failed to make it to the ISL play-offs in all the three seasons. Being the founder team of ISL, the club is struggling to even make it to the knock-out stage. Speaking of ownership transition, the CEO of FC Pune city, Gaurav Modwel, said, “So Hrithik is still the shareholder but Arjun is now the new face. He is really passionate about football, we have been talking about it. So ab maza ayega.”
FC Pune City is the only professional football club in India to have teams which participated at all levels of professional football along with a women’s team. The club recently has also made some interesting signings in the form of Emiliano Alfaro, Marcelinho, and Marcos Tebar, with a hope to qualify for the knockout stages in this year’s league. With these changes, they are hoping their fortune to changes. With Arjun joining the team, Gaurav Modwel said, “His (Arjun Kapoor's) involvement with the club will surely give a motivation to us to connect with a larger audience across the state as well as nationally."In the ISL, where each team has to play 14 matches, FC Pune city had managed to win only four matches in all the seasons. In the first and third season they ended at the 6th spot and in the second season, they got the 7th spot in the ranking list. Now Arjun has joined the team and has proved his passion for football. How this energy will fit transfer to make the Pune team better will be seen at the start of the fourth season this year.
