Ayushmann Khurrana in legal trouble, accused of plagiarising Bala story

Actor Ayushmann Khurrana had a fabulous 2018 with two releases, Andhadhun and Badhaai Ho, that weren't just a hit with the critics but raked in big money at the box office. With some fabulous performances to his name, fans are waiting to be surprised by Ayushmann in 2019 too. One such project lined up for release this year is Bala, a film that revolves around a man facing premature balding. But even before work on Bala kickstarts, the film is in legal trouble. Director Kamal Kant has accused Ayushmann Khurrana and the makers of the film of lifting the idea from his project.

Reportedly, Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana assistant director Kamal Kant Chandra filed a case in the Bombay High Court against the Ayushmann Khurrana, producer Dinesh Vijan and director Amar Kaushik. Kamal has accused them of stealing the idea from his project titled Wig. According to reports, Kamal stated that he met Ayushmann on the sets of Bareilly Ki Barfi, when he went to meet actor Rajkummar Rao. Kamal alleged that he shared his idea of a man struggling with premature balding with Ayushmann on Whatsapp and added that Ayushmann really liked the idea and invited him to explore it further. Kamal states that after that conversation. Ayushmann failed to follow up with him and came up with a similar story idea in a few days.

Kamal added that he sent legal notices to Ayushmann, Dinesh, and Amar but since there was no response from the trio, he went on to file a case against them.

Legal troubles aside, Ayushmann Khurrana is enjoying the career of his dreams. His films aren’t just ruling the box office in India but are set to enjoy success overseas too. Ayushmann’s last film Andhadhun will soon release in China under the title Piano Player. Andhadhun is the first China release for both Ayushmann Khurrana and director Sriram Raghavan. In a statement, Raghavan said, “I am super thrilled that Andhadhun is releasing in China. Ten years back, on a visit to China, I walked into a Beijing Cafe and was zapped to see Nasir Husain’s Caravan playing on a big screen. Dubbed in Chinese, except for the songs. I was told the film was the favourite Indian film of that generation.” Besides  Piano Player's China release, 2019 will see Ayushmann in Dream Girl and Article 15.
