Hansal Mehta's Simran starring Kangana Ranaut has been in news for all the wrong reasons. Be it the spat with the writer Apoorva Asrani or long running saga that is Kangana and Hrithik Roshan. The news on its certification isn't too good either.
Reports say that the Central Board For Film Certification (CBFC) has now asked the makers of Simran for 10 cuts should they want a U/A certification for their film. Reports suggest that the Prasoon Joshi led CBFC wants words like bitch and bastard removed from six different points in the film.
The board has also raised concerns over loud moaning and has asked these to be toned down. And while these cuts will give Simran a U/A certificate for its release, Pahlaj Nihalani's Julie 2 has been cleared without a cut.
"Julie 2 is a clean, adult film," said Pahlaj during the trailer launch of the film recently. It looks like team Joshi agrees. but to be fair, Julie wasn't looking for a U/A certificate. The makers have always wanted an 'A' certification and that's perhaps the reason why there were no cuts.“This is just what I had hoped for. If I was still the CBFC chairperson, I’d have given Julie 2 an ‘Adults’ certificate with no cuts. It is a clean Adults film for adult members of a family. Though it’s a film on an adult subject - the exploitation of newcomers in Bollywood - the film has no nudity, no skin show, and no double-meaning dialogues," said Nihalani later.
