Shah Rukh Khan, not Aamir Khan, will be in theatres this Christmas. There was a debate over whether the actor will manage a solo release as Rohit Shetty’s Simmba, Riteish Deshmukh’s Mauli and Farhan Akhtar backed Kannada film KGF were to release on December 21. However, SRK has managed to get Ranveer Singh and Riteish out. And despite having KGF to compete with, it’s a week that the actor and his fans will have for themselves. Aanand L Rai had managed to keep SRK’s dwarf avatar under wraps, now with the promos and songs out, the makers look pretty thrilled at the response they are receiving. With just ten days to go for the film’s release, we give you 10 reasons why Zero is a movie to watch out for…
Shah Rukh Khan dared to step into a role that Salman Khan refused. That’s right, the original choice for Rai’s dwarf film was the Dabangg hero. However, insiders reveal that Salman turned down the offer because he was not comfortable playing a stunted man. The actor felt that his fans would not accept him in a role like this and eventually Aanand roped in SRK. Even though the actor’s movies like Fan and Jab Harry Met Sejal failed to get the audience excited, Shah Rukh accepted the challenge and was willing to experiment. From the promos it looks like the risk could pay off too.
It was initially reported that SRK will be romancing Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone in Zero. The Padmaavat heroine was also seen visiting Rai’s office, however the part landed in Katrina Kaif’s kitty and the reason we hear was that Anushka shared a warm vibe with Kat and did not have a comfortable rapport with Deepika. Aanand was keen on having a stress-free set and decided to have the Jab Tak Hai Jaan trio in his film. So, it will be a JTHJ reunion, but in Aanand L Rai’s style.
Many years ago, Kamal Haasan played a dwarf in Appu Raja. The film was not just entertaining, but a major risk. In Bollywood we have seen actors promote no-makeup looks and considered going bald or skinny or gaining excess weight or then beefing up as risks and makeovers. Becoming a dwarf with CGI and VFX is indeed a risk and a challenge for SRK. And we must admit that the results are effective. SRK deserves a thumbs up for just attempting this challenge and upping his game.
While reports say that Salman and SRK will soon be working together in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie, Aanand L Rai has roped in the Bharat hero for a song. And this is a song that both Bhai and King Khan fans would thoroughly enjoy on 70mm.
Zero will be Sridevi’s last film. Yes, the talented actress passed away early this year following an accidental drowning in a bath tub while in UAE. It was a shock for her family, fans and the industry. However, SRK had managed to get Sridevi and many of his co-stars for a cameo in Zero. We bet that Sridevi fans will be thrilled to see the actress come alive on silver screen.
For a man who has to his credit films like Raanjhanaa and Tanu Weds Manu, Aanand L Rai’s film would definitely be a treat that one deserves on a Christmas weekend. The filmmaker’s credibility has been on a rise and we certainly want to witness what the director has in store for us this time around.
The marketing for any movie plays an important role and the makers certainly are investing a lot of time, talent and money for the same. We now have SRK as Bauua Singh interacting with his fans and even an emoji inspired by King Khan’s dwarf avatar and much more. In fact, while Shah Rukh is busy mingling with the fans and setting the stage ablaze like his onscreen character, his co-stars Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma are engaging the media with their rapport.
The story of Aanand L Rai’s movie remains a suspense even though we were upset that the makers gave out a little too much as far as Salman’s precious cameo was concerned. While we play the guessing game, we will know it for real on December 21 when the movie hits theatres and we cannot wait for it.
Anushka Sharma is known as one of the finest actors in Bollywood. Aditya Chopra’s find has managed to wow us with her act on screen several times. Anushka has experimented with her roles and Zero will definitely be one of her toughest characters till date. The actress plays Aafia, a scientist with cerebral palsy and did some serious prep for this role.
Katrina Kaif was thrilled to be working with Aanand and looks like her excitement is justified. Because whatever little we’ve seen of the actress in the promos looks interesting. And hopefully unlike in her other movies, the actress will have more than song and dance to her credit. We can’t wait to find out if Rai has managed to extract a performance from Katrina, which not many filmmakers have succeeded to do.
In case these 10 reasons don’t convince you enough to head to the theatres, here’s a last bonus point.
Zero is exciting because of it’s unusual love story between Bauua Singh and a big shot actress Babita Kumari. While Shah Rukh and Katrina’s lip-lock in Jab Tak Hai Jaan was widely talked about. This time around the romance has a twist and we’re eager to find out what’s in store.
These are some solid reasons to watch out for Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif’s Zero. If you have more then please do share it right here with us.
