We have seen big Bollywood movies clashing with each other at the box office in the past resulting in lesser business for each of them. Though there have been exceptions, clashes are definitely something film makers at large look forward to. Almost three big movies were set to clash at the box office on Republic Day of 2018- the S Shankar directed sci-fi movie '2.0' starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar, 'Padman' starring Akshay Kumar and co-produced by Twinkle Khanna and Neeraj Pandey' s crime drama 'Aiyaary' starring Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee.
However, the makers of ‘2.0’ decided to postpone the release date of their movie. ‘2.0' will now release in April 2018. According to reports, the movie will be releasing on April 27, but the makers are yet to confirm on the exact date. A statement released by the makers reads as, “Lyca Productions – Superstar Rajinikanth – Akshay Kumar – Shankar magnum opus SciFi action thriller 2.0 to be screened worldwide on April 2018. Nation’s costliest 3D' film starring Superstar Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson, directed by Shankar, music by A R Rahman. The high-tech post production works are fully geared and the team is all set for the release schedule.”
If the rumors are true and the movie releases on April 27, then the clashes could be even bigger, as we have Tiger Shroff' s 'Baaghi 2' , Kangana Ranaut' s 'Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi' , and Marvel' s 'Avengers: Infinity War' releasing on the same date.
The expectations from '2.0' are immense. With a huge budget of Rs 400 crore, there is undoubtedly a lot at stake for this film. However, considering the massive star powers of South Indian legend Rajinikanth and Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, who in the past has delivered back-to-back hits, it would be very interesting to see what turns out next April.
