'83: Chirag Patil to join Ranveer Singh in the film
While Ranveer Singh is essaying the role of the legendary Kapil Dev in the upcoming '83, the filmmakers intend to keep characters as close to the real players as possible. Maybe that is why Sandeep Patil will be essayed by his own son - Chirag. “Playing my father, who’s my hero, is just awesome. I don’t think any actor has ever played his own father before,” said Chirag in an interview to a leading publication. It is worth noting that Sandeep had played the match (against West Indies) with broken ribs. This will be the first time in Bollywood that a son will be playing his own father onscreen.
Sandeep Patil was a middle-order batsman and was a force to be reckoned with. He even ventured into Bollywood for a while. Chirag, on the other hand, hasn't been very inclined on the sport but has acted in Marathi films. One can say that he'll be completing a circle by playing his own father as a sportsman in the film. The film's Twitter handle has been constantly posting details about the cast of the film. As each day goes by, characters are revealed.
'83 tells the tale of India's incredible 1983 cricket World Cup victory. This is especially significant as this was the first time India won a World Cup. The film is being directed by Kabir Khan and will also star popular YouTube sensation Sahil Khatter.
