In Bollywood two things that were no less than ‘pathar ki lakeer’ or etched on a stone were Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan’s never-ending fight and that Aamir Khan never attends award functions. But like a politician’s word both have gone back. Bhai and King Khan rekindled their Karan – Arjun brotherhood, so much so that instead of blessings from maa they are gifting each other expensive cars and cameo roles.
Aamir Khan on the other hand, has taken a major U-turn by going back on his stance of never attending award functions. ” I don’t go to award functions. For me, the biggest award is the audiences’ reaction and love. I don’t want to comment on awards.”
However, Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist was a part of the GQ Men of the Year Awards 2017 that was held on Saturday, September 23. He was bestowed with the title of ‘Creative Maverick’ of the Indian Cinema at the event.
The four times National Award winner has treated his audience not just with his fine acting in films like ‘Lagaan’ (2001), ‘Ghajini’ (2008), ‘3 Idiots’ (2009), ‘PK’ (2014), ‘Dangal’ (2016) but has also proved his prowess as a Director and Producer with films that are both entertaining and with a social message including ‘Taare Zameen Par’ (2007), ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’ (2008), ‘Peepli Live’ (2010), ‘Dhobi Ghat’ (2011), ‘Delhi Belly’ (2011), ‘Talaash’ (2012) and now his upcoming film ‘Secret Superstar’ which stars Dangal-duo Aamir Khan and Zaira Wasima which will hit the box office on October 19.
Ranveer Singh shared a ‘thug life’ selfie with Aamir Khan from the event. He won the Best Entertainer of the Year award at the same event. He will be seen next in ‘Padmavati’ starring Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor in the lead, slated to release on December 1.
And while we understand that this award ceremony is miles away from film awards, is this a precursor to Khan attending those awards as well. We'd only be too happy to see him.
