Aamir Khan to star in a Forrest Gump remake and we can’t keep calm
It's Aamir Khan's 54th birthday on Thursday. But dare we say he is getting older! Like every year, the actor shared the joy of his birthday with the press. Journalists who gathered at his Mumbai residence were all part of the cake cutting ceremony, which followed with a mandatory conversation. Aamir usually has interesting giveaways during these interactive sessions. This time around, he announced his next film, an official remake of the cult Hollywood film Forrest Gump.
Forrest Gump, released in 1994, starred Tom Hanks and Robin Wright and was a comedy-drama. Hanks, as Forrest, was just an average man who joined the army. In the days to come, he unknowingly became a part of bigger, historical movements through the decades. Forrest Gump went on to win Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Director (Robert Zemeckis) apart from awards in Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Visual Effects and Best Editing as well. Hanks also won his second (and so far his last) oscar in the Best Actor category, for this one. Considering the film's massive success, the Library of Congress, in 2011, decided to preserve the film in the United States National Film Registry.
The Hindi remake will be titled Lal Singh Chaddha, revealed Aamir. He will be playing a Sardar in the film and will be losing around 20 kg. Yet another drastic transformation on its way! For his blockbuster Dangal, the actor went on to become 90 kilos from being 68 kilos. But a more difficult part was to lose all those extra kilos as Aamir's character went through various age groups and body shapes. His transformation for Ghajini is also commendable. On the other hand, not many would have effortlessly played a college student like Aamir did, in 3 Idiots.
That's a BIG news! Aamir's last release Thugs of Hindostan failed to succeed at the box office. Hopefully, Forrest Gump will be the game-changer.
