Director Rohit Shetty has made several blockbuster Hindi films from Singham Returns to Dilwale and the most recent Golmaal Again. His upcoming project with Ranveer Singh titled Simmba seems to be an exciting one too. But it looks like the filmmaker isn’t satisfied with success in the Hindi film space and is now readying to produce a Marathi film. The film titled School College Aani Life will also be the first directorial venture by Vihan Suryavanshi.
“It’s a light-hearted film set in Mumbai which revolves around four college boys. Rohit sir heard the script last year and immediately agreed to produce it as the story touched his heart and has never been attempted in Marathi before. We are all excited,” said Rohan Mapuskar, the film’s casting director. Mapuskar was earlier involved with the casting of 3 Idiots, directed by Rajkumar Hirani and his brother Rajesh Mapuskar’s Ventilator.
The film will begin shooting in March-April and apart from looking for four actors, the filmmakers are also on the lookout for two leads for the female role, reports Mumbai Mirror. “Both Rohit sir and Vihan decided that they don’t want established actors and newcomers will bring freshness to the script. Rohit sir is actively involved in the casting and will begin workshops once actors are locked,” says Rohan.
Meanwhile the Rohit Shetty’s Simmba starring Ranveer Singh is slated to release on December 28, 2018. Besides being directed by Rohit Shetty, the film is produced by him in collaboration with Karan Johar. Rohit Shetty’s last film, Golmaal Again, was a runaway hit which grossed Rs 205 crores in India itself and Rs 309 crores worldwide.
