Saw the latest from Kangana Ranaut and AIB? The Bollywood Diva Song had amassed 1.9 million views on YouTube when we last checked and we're certain that the number will double, even triple in no time. Talks about feminism, narcissism, nepotism and many such ism's that have plagued the industry for long. The internet is loving it and so are we.
But our love for Kangana aside we wonder what inspired the Backchods to do this? After all, they are the Go To Guys when Bollywood wants to say something serious in the garb of being funny.
The roast for instance. Karan Johar made us go through an entire biography without saying the 'three words' but at the roast which also starred the likes of Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, there was little left to the imagination.
Alia Bhatt's faux pas about the President served as a precedent for other celebrities who thought G.K was nothing more than an acronym for Delhi's Greater Kailash. Life wasn't easy for Bhatt especially at the red carpets where rookie reporters thought it was OK to embarrass her in public once again. Bakchod boys to the rescue. AIB posted Genius Of The Year three years ago and at 17 million views, you don't HAVE to be a genius to know how important they are to the industry and its promotion strategy.
Their podcast with Shahrukh Khan earlier this year had the King of Bollywood talk about all the times he had been wrongly targeted for words he did or did not use on various public platforms. At 4.5 million views it's one of Khan's most watched interviews yet.
Ranbir Kapoor too opened up to team AIB. His Jagga Jasoos had been delayed for a while and he needed all the eyeballs to get a good start at the ticket window. A 2.5 million views would have gone a long way but unfortunately, his film didn't.
The point we are trying to make is that Bollywood and AIB have been collaborating on some great content. Will this latest upload with Kangana change all that? Considering a lot of what the ‘Diva’ says points directly at Bakchods’ ‘good friends’ from the industry.
