Bollywood’s Khiladi – Akshay Kumar is hitting the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Not very long ago, the Rustom actor was called out for promoting his film ‘Kesari’ on the occasion of Republic Day. Now, Kumar is once again on the trolls’ radar because of an old interview that didn’t go well with the netizens. The video that has emerged on the internet over the last 24 hours has gone viral and in it, Akshay can be heard talking about how his films do the best business in Pakistan, adding that he gets the most amount of love from that country.
The actor stated, “Pakistan mein meri filmein sabse zyada business karti hai. Jitna pyaar wahan se milta hai, shayad hi kahin se milta hai (My films work best in Pakistan. The love I get from this country is more than any other place).” The 9=second clip was all Twitter needed to troll the actor. Twitterati didn't fall short of words in letting the actor know of their disappointment. Some went onto to question Akshay’s citizenship and his love for India. Many stated that had it been any of the Khan’s (Salman, Shah Rukh and Aamir) in his place, there would have been a serious outrage over social media and elsewhere. Some users also called it political propaganda.
It's only been four days since the trolls got at Akshay Kumar for promoting Kesari on Republic Day and now this. While the notion that any publicity is good publicity may hold true sometime, too many of that may spell trouble for the star. We're now waiting for star's reply, if at all there's one!
