In what is a first for Twinkle Khanna, the actor-author has apologised to Mallika Dua for her emotionally charged comments in support of her husband Akshay Kumar. Not one to show inhibitions over voicing her opinion on a whole range of issues, Miss Funnybones took to Facebook to write lengthy post expressing regret over her remarks to the stand-up comedian. The actress called her reaction to the controversy ‘purely emotional’.

By the looks of it, it seems like Mallika Dua has accepted the apology and moved on. She did however react to the apology and defended her father’s comments on the issue.
That’s the thing about parents. They are protective of their children whether they are 5 or whether they are 28 ☝🏻

On Sunday, the former actress grabbed attention when she addressed the controversy surrounding her husband Akshay Kumar’s ‘insensitive’ remark on Mallika Dua during The Great Indian Laughter Challenge shoot.

Khanna’s post against Mallika Dua did not go down well with Twitterati with most leaning towards calling it ‘disappointing’ coming from the actress.
What kind of pseudo feminism is it to post such ruthless #lamejokes! It‘s fine, if you want to support your husband, no matter what he does. Please then don’t claim to stand for #womenpower. @MallikaDua is correct to point that she isn’t amused by ur husband‘s silly comments.

Grow up!! You wouldn’t be making #lamejokes if someone else’s husband had said the same thing to you.

Wow! How creative of u Twinkle! I bet u would hav written a long column on "Workplace harassment" if der was someone else in Akshay's place.

Mallika's father, journalist Vinod Dua slammed the Kumar in a Facebook post “for telling his co-worker Mallika Dua that 'Aap bell bajao, main aap ko bajata hun' (You ring the bell, I will bang you)... This is his sense of humour and language... Star Plus... Wake up." He even wrote, "I am going to screw this cretin Akshay.”
Sorry to quash your hunger for sensationalism but Facebook and perhaps a copyright claim had it removed. Find something better to do. pic.twitter.com/c9zwEslJgA

While the apology from Twinkle Khanna was well received by her fans, we’re still waiting for the man in the middle of this debate, Akshay Kumar, clarify his stand on the issue.
I like what you wrote. It's refreshingly honest yet very carefully articulated. And you have a classy sense of humor so keep it going. :)

You will never be able to get rid of hater. Please do not clarify for them. The more you post the more they will abuse you. Silence is best.

@mrsfunnybones you my dear are wise and should have the freedom of speech unapologetically. As always people will always talk 💜
