The Khiladi of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar has been part of showbiz for a long time now. In the industry for a few decades, the star has seen highs and lows in his career. Though the megastar has starred in many hit films like Khiladi, Hera Pheri to Padman and more, there is one flick that is very close to Akshay Kumar’s heart. 2005 released Waqt: A Race Against Time will always have a special place in his life. Minting Rs 23 crore during its time, this melodramatic movie was considered one of Akshay Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan's biggest hits. FYI, Big B played the role of Akki's father in the movie.
Akshay Kumar who is known for his action-packed roles in Bollywood was widely lauded for his stellar act in this family drama. In a recent chat show, the Kesari star spilled the beans saying that much like the plot of the film, where Amitabh is diagnosed with a deadly disease, his father too was suffering from cancer at the time he was shooting for the flick. That explains why Waqt holds an emotional connect in Akshay's life. The actor said, "That time even my father had cancer. And in the film, Mr Bachchan’s character also had cancer. If you see those scenes, they are real. It was a very hard film for me emotionally. There were so many times when the scene was over but I couldn’t stop my emotions. Which is why this film will always be in my memory."
Alongside Amitabh and Akshay, Waqt also starred Priyanka Chopra, Shefali Shah and Boman Irani in key roles. On the work front, Akshay Kumar is super packed with the promotions of his upcoming film Kesari which set to make it to the silver screen on March 21. Produced by Dharma Productions and directed by Anurag Singh, the movie also sees Parineeti Chopra in a pivotal role.
