Bollywood heavyweight Amitabh Bachchan on Thursday threatened to quit the microblogging site Twitter after his counterpart Shah Rukh Khan dethroned him as the most followed Indian actor on the social media platform. Shah Rukh currently commands a legion of 3,29,44,338 followers and is closely followed by the senior Bachchan with 3,29,02,353 followers. The difference of 2,599 followers, at the time of the threat, seems to have upset the Sholay star.
Bachchan seems to think that there’s been a weird dip in his follower count. The actor is appears to be more active on social media than SRK and regularly posts pictures and updates about his daily activities. It might seem like Bachchan’s follower counts could be a direct result of Twitter conducting a clean-up act over fake accounts and followers. The New York Times had reported that many actors, singers, entrepreneurs and sport stars who “bought Twitter followers” or “artificial engagement” have been affected. Amitabh is followed by Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone in terms of twitter followers, according to a list on Socialbakers.
While Deepika is the fifth most followed Indian actor on Twitter, she tops the chart when it comes to Instagram followers with a staggering 20.6m. DP is followed by our very own desi girl, Priyanka Chopra with 20.4m followers. Bollywood’s newest sweetheart Alia Bhatt has 19.2m followers. She’s followed by Shraddha Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandez. Clearly Bollywood’s ladies are ahead of their male counterparts on the photo sharing site.Read More
