Bollywood biopics have been a fast trend of the recent past. With blockbuster hits like Dangal, Bhag Milka Bhag and Mary Kom, there is another one in the pipelines. Ace Indian athlete, Anju Bobby Geoge, on whom a biopic is being considered by a certain filmmaker, has suggested Anushka Sharma to play her on the silver screen.
While initially being modest to the idea of a biopic due to her sports academy, Anju was also quick to give her candidate for playing herself in a film. While talking to TOI, Anju said, “Frankly speaking, I feel there is a lot of time for a movie to be made on my life. I have started a sports academy and presently I am busy grooming budding sportspersons there. Someone told me that a filmmaker wanted to cast Anushka Sharma too play my character in my biopic and I agree with the choice. If ever a film is made on me, I feel Anushka will fit the bill and play me perfectly on screen.”
The athlete hailing from Kerala made history after winning bronze for long jump in the 2003 World Championships in Athletics in Paris, making her the first Indian to win a medal in a World Championships in Athletics. She received the Arjuna Award in 2002 and the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award in 2003–2004.
Anushka was last seen in the Hindi movie Jab Harry Met Sejal in August this year. Currently, the actress is busy with director Rajkumar Hirani’s biopic on Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, Sanju.
