In his directorial next, Anurag Kashyap is all set to cast south super star Dulquer Salmaan. The movie, which is touted to be a love-triangle and titled Manmarziyan, will also have Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles. This will be Dulquer’s second Bollywood movie that he has signed this year, his first being Karwan, which stars Irrfan Khan and Mithila Palkar.
Manmarziyan is being produced by filmmaker Aanand L Rai. Rai initially wanted Sameer Sharma to direct the movie but according to reports, he abandoned the project in 2015 due to ‘creative differences’ with Sameer. Later, Rai was in talks with director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari before zeroing-in on Anurag Kashyap.
While Anurag has been a fan of regional cinema, he was particularly impressed with Dulquer after watching the actor’s critically acclaimed gangster drama Kammatipaadam. In an interview with Indian Express, Anurag said, “He (Dulquer) is outstanding. I think there is much more realism in actors from regional cinema. I find their performances believable.”Apart from a successful career in the Malayalam film industry, Dulquer is also pursuing films in Tamil and Telugu. Dulquer’s upcoming Tamil film Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadaithaal, which is directed by Desingh Periyasamy and has Ritu Varma as its female lead, has hit the floors in November. The actor was last seen in Bejoy Nambiar’s bilingual film Solo, which did not perform well at the box office in spite of the hype it created before its release.
