Ayushmann Khurrana is currently one of the most successful actors in Bollywood. His last few releases like Bareilly Ki Barfi, Shubh Mangal Savdhan, Andhadhun and Badhaai Ho have done very well at the box office. We won’t be wrong to say that he is one of the most bankable actors of this generation. But while he was tasting success at the box office, his personal life suffered a setback. The actor’s wife, Tahira Kashyap is diagnosed with cancer and Ayushmann like a strong pillar is being by her side. But of course, it is not easy.
Recently, while talking to CNN News18’s Anuradha Sengupta about the time when his wife was diagnosed with cancer and how he dealt with it, Ayushmann said, “It was difficult for sure, but I was just doing the basics right that I was with her when she required, in the hospital or with the kids. This is the first time I was dealing with the routine of life with the kids. I don’t know what to say like how women in the past would work with kids, right now I was doing that. Seeing that their tiffins are packed, they are doing their homework, they are going for their classes and I am promoting my film at the same time. So, I have grown a lot in these past six months and it changed me as a person overall. I always thought I am a star, I will come out of the big car and give interviews, my films are getting released, and both are looking very promising, but at the same time in the background, this was happening. I was dealing with little issues of the house, yaha paani nahi chal raha hai, bottle mein paani thanda chala gaya hai, the kid has a cold or cough I don’t know, so I was dealing with everything. Suddenly there was an evolution. It was a great learning experience for both of us.”
When asked if he thinks this is something that men don’t ordinarily have to experience at all, to which the actor said, “Exactly, I think we have this sense of entitlement that we will probably look after the classes of the kids, we will go for the sports class. But these small written roles of life we don’t pay heat to. It’s like this is not our job, we can’t do this. I think that should change.”
Ayushmann is currently busy with the shooting of his next film Dream Girl which is slated to hit the screens in September this year.
