Ayushmann Khurrana’s Andhadhun set to release in China as Piano Player
Sriram Raghavan’s Andhadhun starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu and Radhika Apte is one of the most successful films of the year 2018. The movie received thumbs up from the critics and has also won a few awards already. Andhadhun did quite well overseas too and now it is all set to be released in one more international territory. The film will be hitting the screens in China as Piano Player. Andhadhun was produced by Viacom 18 and the official Twitter handle of the production house shared the news.
China has become a very huge market for Indian films. Many Bollywood movies like Dangal, PK, Hichki, Hindi Medium and others have done well at the box office in the neighbouring country. But the audience in China is getting smart and is increasingly acknowledging only movies with good content. Aamir Khan has a huge fan following in China and yet his movie Thugs Of Hindostan failed to make a mark at the Chinese box office.
Now it will be interesting to see if Andhadhun will be accepted by the Chinese audience or not.
In a statement, director Sriram Raghavan said, “I am super thrilled that Andhadhun is releasing in China. Ten years back, on a visit to China, I walked into a Beijing Cafe and was zapped to see Nasir Husain’s ‘Caravan’ playing on a big screen. Dubbed in Chinese except for the songs. I was told the film was the favourite Indian film of that generation. I am curious how the Chinese audience responds to our musical thriller.”
