The Battle of Saragarhi found only in the history books, is now the subject of not one, not two but three Bollywood films. These films are supposed to be produced during the same time. While Ajay Devgn is making Son of Sardaar: The Battle of Saragarhi, director Rajkumar Santoshi is working on the Battle of Saragarhi, which stars Randeep Hooda. The dream team of Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar, and Salman Khan is also collaborating to work on a periodic drama titled ‘Kesar’, which will also focus on the same subject.
These films are based on the Battle of Saragarhi, which took place in 1897 between British Indian Army and Afghan Orakzai tribesmen in the North-West Frontier Province.
Not only Ajay Devgn and Randeep Hooda but Akshay Kumar will also be seen playing the role of Havildar Ishar Singh, the military commander of the 36th Sikhs Regiment.
Kesar and Battle of Sargrahi are reportedly all set for a 2018 release. A similar situation was witnessed way back in 2002 where two films based on the same historical subject clashed at the box-office. Ajay Devgn starrer The Legend of Bharat Singh released with Bobby Deol starrer 23rd March 1931: Shaheed. While The Legend of Bhagat Singh survived the clash, Bobby Drop starrer could not impress the audiences.
It seems Ajay has not forgotten about the consequences of releasing a movie simultaneously with another one that is based on the same subject (Bhagat Singh and Shaheed). "We are working on the script but it won’t happen for another two years because of the scale of the project. The designing of such films is different. What people usually do is first shoot, then get into CGI. But technically, to reach the desired standards, you have to get into CGI first, shoot and then go back to the CGI”, Ajay told the Mumbai Mirror.
Now all the actors have started their preparation to portray the character on screen.
While Randeep Hooda-starrer Battel of Sargrahi is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, Ajay Devgn will also try his luck and wear the director's hat for Son of Sardar: Battel of Sargrahi. But the real surprise would be Karan Johar and Salman Khan produced multi starrer project titled ‘Kesar’.Which of these films will win the hearts and succeed at the box-office, only time will tell.
