The Allahabad High Court acquitted Aarushi Talwar’s parents of murdering their daughter and domestic help. The almost decade old case even has a Bollywood film that was inspired by it. Interestingly, the court’s verdict is similar to the 2015 film ‘Talvar,’ directed by Meghna Gulzar, presented by Junglee Pictures and produced by Vineet Jain and Vishal Bhardwaj.
The film has three perspectives of the case and presents the parents as guilty or innocent in various ways.
Aarushi Talwar, daughter of Dr Rajesh and Dr Nupur Talwar was found dead with her throat slit in her home in Noida on 16th May, 2008. The next day, body of their servant, Hemraj was found on the terrace of the Talwar house. Rajesh and Nupur Talwar were sentenced to life by a special court in 2013. The Talwars then appealed against the order in the Allahabad High Court.
Post the verdict, twitter went in to a frenzy and several celebrities, including those who were part of the film, let their voices be known. Shekhar Kapur, Pritish Nandy, Kabir Bedi and Aditi Rao Hydari who also took to twitter to voice their opinion.

Nothing worse than parents accused of their own daughters murder. And then horrible sordid made up stories lapped up by media #ArushiVerdict
