The Mumbai Police's Economic Offenses Wing has filed a 176-page-long charge-sheet against Bollywood producer Prernaa Arora for the Rs 31 crore fraud that she allegedly committed, reports The Times Of India. Earlier in December 2018, she was arrested in relation to the same case. After appearing at Mumbai's Esplanade Court, she was sent to police custody. Prernaa's mother Pratima Arora was reportedly absconding while the police looked for her. The 31 crore loan that Prernaa drew, was in her mother's name.
Prernaa, who owned production house KriArj Entertainment along with producer Arjun N Kapoor, has got into conflicts with a number of Bollywood figures and was also embroiled in numerous controversies surrounding her films. She took loans for Kedarnath despite the film's rights not belonging to her. She also borrowed Rs 9 crore from producer Vashu Bhagnani but started avoiding his calls when he asked her to return the money. In July last year, Bhagnani filed a complaint against her.
Prernaa has also had tiffs with the makers of John Abraham's Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran, Fanney Khan and Batti Gul Meter Chalu over rights and unclear transaction. Owing to differences of opinions that finally resulted in a legal tussle, Kedarnath had to undergo numerous delays.
