After impressing us with her remarkable performance in Padmaavat, global diva Deepika Padukone will be seen portraying the role of an acid attack survivor in her next. She will play Laxmi Agarwal in Meghna Gulzar’s upcoming biopic Chhapaak, which will also mark Deepika’s production debut. While the film is said to go on floors next month, it seems that DP is not missing any chance to bring out the essence of her character. A report by HT details her preps for the role.
“Deepika first searched websites to learn how the (acid attack) survivors were affected. She is also looking up all available material (photographs/videos) on the internet about Laxmi to thoroughly research her life. In fact, Laxmi herself has been very supportive, even sharing material on her journey that is not available anywhere else or is not yet out in the public domain. Deepika was also provided DVDs and pen drives, containing material about 10 survivors, by the makers of the project. The actor is making sure that every detail is in place,” informed a source to the site.

Deepika also spoke about the movie in an earlier interview and said that the story is ‘important to be told’ and has nothing to do with male or female. “It’s about the human spirit. It's about bravery and triumph. Hopefully, we'll be able to bring about a social change,” she shared.
It is also reported that the film will feature Deepika in not just one, but three different looks. It is expected to go on floors in mid-2019.
