Right from her debut film Om Shanti Om to her last outing Padmaavat, Deepika Padukone has dolled up at her beautiful best for all her films. Her next outing Chhapaak, however, will feature her as a woman who banks on her inner beauty and strength to swim through the adversity. Her face is burnt but her spirit isn't. Meghna Gulzar, as she wrote the real story of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal into a film, had Deepika on her mind from the very beginning.
Meghna has now written a beautiful piece on Deepika, on the actor's recently launched official website. "It was a moment of serendipity when I asked for a meeting with Deepika. I had had many conversations with myself that she just may not be interested in doing the kind of film that I was taking to her. And she wasn’t," she wrote, adding how Deepika was rather looking to do something light-hearted and Meghna didn't know if something as intense as acid violence would interest her.
As part of her preparation, Deepika will also meet Laxmi, who is also a single mother. It is reported that she will have not one but three looks, all different from each other, in the film.
Chaapaak is tentatively set to go on floors sometime in mid-2019.Read More
