Deepika Padukone's forthcoming film Chhapaak is going to be different from every other film she has done before. Deepika is set to an acid attack survivor (Lakshmi Agarwal) and will bring life to her story wherein courage wins over tragedy. The film is being helmed by Meghna Gulzar, whose last outing Raazi was a smashing success. Along with Meghna, the film is also written by Atika Chohan, best known for having penned Kalki Koechlin's Margarita With A Straw.
Atika has also written Kalki Koechlin and Naseeruddin Shah's 2015 film Waiting. A journalist until 2008, she happens to be the joint secretary and Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) member of the Screen Writers Association. She was recently in news for lending strong support to director-producer Vinta Nanda who accused actor Alok Nath of sexually abusing her almost two decades back.
Atika, who headed to Yash Raj Films with a script at the beginning of her career, was instead offered a job on their television series Rishta.com. Apart from the two films mentioned above, she has also co-written Terribly Tiny Tales' short film Mamta Tonic. With Deepika playing the lead role, Chhapaak surely seems to be her biggest break so far!
