The makers of Baaghi 2 dropped the recreated Ek, Do, Teen on the internet to blow your Monday blues away with a Jacqueline Fernandez performance. Blow being the focal point in this recreation the original of which once made Madhuri Dixit a superstar as she pined for her lover in the 1988 superhit Tezaab starring Anil Kapoor. So as we said there’s a lot of blowing in this recreation. In fact, you could actually misjudge Ek, do, teen to be a song about the number of times Jacqueline either blows a whistle or blows you a kiss. Well! Blow a kiss, she does. Blow our minds? Not so much.
The steps are too rehearsed and too complicated and we wonder if Fernandez, a brilliant dancer, made a mistake by saying yes to this Madhuri number. Dixit’s performance choreographed by Saroj Khan made its way to every award function, school annual day, birthday parties and weddings post its release.
Saroj has been roped in for the recreation as well but along with Ganesh Acharya and Ahmed Khan, the director himself. As you have probably realised already we aren’t very kicked about this one though we are happy that this forced piece to gather some momentum before the film’s release will soon be forgotten and what will remain is the timeless classic that Madhuri delivered three decades ago.
