Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga is an unconventional love story, revolving around two women in love. Ever since the trailer hit the internet, makers of ELKDTAL drew appreciation for touching upon a subject not many mainstream films have attempted. Especially after the non-criminalisation of homosexuality as a landmark judgment by the Supreme Court, both the audience as well as the critics were all eager to see ELKDTAL explore the subject.
While the film received mostly positive reviews, its first day at the box office wasn't very strong. It minted Rs 2.75-3 crore, which can't be called a great opening. Despite the performances being lauded, the film's rather weak opening collection can probably be credited to the fact that the subject would not draw every individual to the theatre. Having said that, the weekend might come up with a good recovery.
