Operation Karaoke, a sting operation carried out by independent media outlet Cobrapost, was published on the internet on Tuesday and is taking the space by storm. The video released has two reporters on behalf of the non-profit organisation pretending to be representatives of political parties, offering public figures money in lieu of social media posts promoting the party. The list includes Shakti Kapoor, Sonu Sood, Abhijit Bhattacharya, Sunny Leone and Vivek Oberoi among others.
We reached out to Shakti Kapoor to hear his side of the story and Kapoor, who is presently in Goa, who was in no mood to accept the reports. "I am not on the tweets," he said, indicating that he was not on Twitter, which was one of the essentials of the offer given to actors. The video shows the reporters approaching him to promote BJP. "I love BJP. I will always stand with BJP," said the actor, adding that he had a lot of respect for them and that would always be there for the party in any capacity.
