The Padmavati trailer piqued the interest of Deepika-Ranveer-Shahid fans and garnered a lot of appreciation and criticism too. Bhansali movies are not just famous for their grandeur but also for their soulful music. Padmavati’s first song is out and its all set to make the fans groove to the beats of ‘Ghoomar’. The song features queen Padmavati’s dance.
The first look poster of the song has been doing rounds on social media. Deepika looks glamourous in traditional Rajput attire and jewellery.
“The shooting of the film began with this song, and I’ll never forget that day. I remember approaching my mark for the first shot. It was almost as if Padmavati’s soul had entered my body. I could feel her presence; and, in fact, I still do. It’s one of those rare moments in an actor’s life where it’s going to take a very long time before it actually leaves the system,” Deepika told Hindustan Times.
“I started preparing for this film and character several months before we started filming. But it was for the Ghoomar song [sequence] that I walked onto the set as Padmavati for the first time.” She added.
A traditional dance form, Ghoomar can be traced back to its ancient roots. Performed by Rajput women on all auspicious occasions. A source told a leading daily, "It is an extremely difficult performance art that takes years to learn, Deepika had to pick up the steps within a matter of days and she mastered it. Deepika did over 66 twirls while shooting for the song, dressed in an extravagant costume and adorned in heavy jewellery."
The twitter handle of the film sparked the interest of audience by sharing some fun facts about the dance form.
‘Ghoomar’ has been composed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali himself and sung by Shreya Ghoshal. This would be the third collaboration of Bhansali, Deepika, and Shreya Ghoshal after two hit songs, Nagada Sang Dhol from Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela and Deewani Mastani from Bajirao Mastani.
The movie will see Deepika Padukone play the character of Rani Padmini, Shahid Kapoor will portray the role of her husband Maha Rawal Ratan Singh, while Ranveer Singh will be seen as the antagonist Sultan Alauddin Khilji.
