Rohit Shetty is back with the fourth outing in the Golmaal franchise - Golmaal Again after a gap of 7 years. While the main man Ajay Devgn has been a constant in the franchise, this film will introduce Parineeti Chopra and Tabu to the team. Ajay Devgn-Tabu will be seen on screen three years after Drishyam and 23 years after Vijaypath. This would also be the first time Tabu will be seen in a comic character. The cast of the film is hoping to add some Golmaal to your Diwali with this horror-comedy.
With the franchise spanning a good 11 years, the team is confident the fans have grown alongside and will embrace the taste and progress of Golmaal style of comedy. Speaking to in.com ahead of the release, Ajay Devgn says the franchise’s sense of humor has changed. “It changes in the writing, in the scripting. This time if you see, it’s a horror comedy. It’s not horror to scare you but to make you laugh,” Devgn said. While the horror-comedy genre has not been explored much in Bollywood, Devgn is quick to defend his film. “One or two films (in the genre) have been made but a lot of people have not attempted it,” He added. In Bollywood, the horror-comedy genre was first attempted by Priyadarshan in Bhool Bhulaiyaa in 2007.
The Golmaal series has seen huge success commercially as well. With the last 3 films raking in massive profits, Rohit Shetty seems to have mastered the formula of winning at the box office. “In Golmaal, the idea is to keep the characters because they have always worked,” says actor Kunal Kemmu who will continue playing the part of Laxman, the ‘poetic idiot’ in the film. “The language and humor have kept changing because it has evolved so much,” Khemmu adds.
With Golmaal Again hitting the screens this week, Rohit Shetty would well be hoping that you get to the theaters and soak in all the action that only a Rohit Shetty film can offer.
