Gully Boy first week collection: Ranveer Singh starrer stops short of joining 100 crore club
Gully Boy has collected a good amount at the box office in its first week but fails to reach the 100 crore mark.
Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy took to a flying start at the box office. The film received amazing reviews and the good word of mouth helped the movie collect an amazing Rs 71.50 crore (according to Box Office India) in its extended first weekend. After a good first weekend, it was expected that the film will continue to do well at the box office on weekdays too. But that was not to be. After a very good Monday (Rs 8.50 crore) and Tuesday (Rs 8 crore), the movie showed a drop on Wednesday (Rs 6 crore) and Thursday (Rs 5 crore).
In its extended first week (eight days), the film has collected Rs 99 crore (according to Box Office India). It would have easily crossed the 100 crore mark if, the collections didn’t show a huge drop on Wednesday and Thursday. Having said that, the 100 crore mark at the box office is inevitable with Friday's collection. Gully Boy is Zoya Akhtar’s biggest hit till date as the film has surpassed the lifetime collection of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (Rs 89.96 crore).
It will reach the 100 crore mark on its second Friday and for Alia Bhatt it will be the fastest film of her to reach this mark. Gully Boy will face tough competition from Total Dhamaal at the box office this weekend. It will be interesting to see if Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit starrer will affect the business of Ranveer and Alia starrer.
