Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming directorial Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt is all set to hit the screens on February 14, 2019. The movie is inspired by the life of rappers Naezy and Divine who have a perfect rags to riches story. Recently, while talking to Mid-day, Zoya revealed what she liked about the rappers. She went on to say that they both are feminist, but they don’t know the word. Now, this statement of Zoya has left Naezy thinking, or let's say, being sarcastic.
She said, "I don't think they know the word. But it's in the way they talk about women, and also in the way they don't talk about them. There is also no cynicism in them, and they are all about making a change,” she said. Naezy tweeted the link of the article and wrote, “We are hardcore feminists and we don’t know the word. Okay.” He ended his caption with a thinking emoticon. Looks like Naezy is taken aback by this statement of Zoya. However, later he tweeted that Zoya meant that he and Divine don't label feminism.
Apart from Ranveer and Alia, Gully Boy also stars Kalki Koechlin. The trailer and the songs of the film have created a good pre-release buzz and recently the movie also got a good response at Berlin Film Festival.
