The Fault In Our Stars remake will star newbie Sanjana Sanghi opposite Sushant Singh Rajput
The Hindi remake of the 2014 Hollywood film The Fault In Our Stars by debutant Mukesh Chhabra is all set to go on floors soon. The film is going to be bankrolled by Fox Star Studios and Kai Po Che actor Sushant Singh Rajput has been confirmed as the leading man in this official Hindi adaptation of the Hollywood romantic saga. And the hunt for the leading lady has also come to an end now. The makers have locked a fresh face as their leading lady and it is none other than newcomer Sanjana Sanghi. The actress was earlier seen in brief roles in Rockstar, Hindi Medium and Fukrey Returns.
On Monday, March 19 the Lady Shri Ram College graduate took to Twitter to share her happiness. Sushant Singh Rajput too welcomed the actor on board on Twitter.
Early reports suggested Kriti Sanon's sister Nupur Sanon is being considered for the lead role. Casting director Mukesh Chhabra, who will be making his directorial debut with the film, also confirmed the news to Mumbai Mirror and said, “I met Sanjana while casting for Rockstar and found her to be a dynamic girl with great energy. After a few years, she reconnected for a few ad jobs and this time she came across as a mature young lady and to my surprise, a fabulous actor. I knew instantly that I would love to make a film with her one day. Once The Fault in Our Stars script was ready, she fit right in. She’s the perfect face and I can’t wait to create magic with this talented girl.”
Rucha Pathak, the chief creative officer of Fox Star Studios was quoted by the daily saying, “She has a striking yet innocent personality but her screen-test really caught my eye. She nailed her audition and we knew right away she was our leading lady. We’re looking forward to launching her.”
Oscar-winning music composer, A.R. Rahman has also joined the team and will compose music for the film. “When I heard the narration of the Indian adaptation of ‘The Fault In Our Stars’, especially how music is so beautifully woven into the narrative, I got quite excited. I am looking forward to creating music for this heart-warming venture,” Rahman said in a statement.
Helmed by Josh Boone, the 2014 original film is based on the novel of the same name by John Green. The Hollywood movie revolves around Hazel Grace Lancaster (played by Shailene), a 16-year-old cancer patient, who meets and falls in love with Augustus Waters (played by Ansel), another cancer patient who has lost a leg to bone cancer. Besides Shailene and Ansel, the film also features Nat Wolff, Laura Dern, Sam Trammell, and Willem Dafoe in pivotal roles. It received worldwide recognition with strong critical and commercial success.
