The makers of Kaalakaandi have just dropped the trailer and it is fascinating to say the least. Starring Saif Ali Khan in the lead role, the unusual dark comedy is one of the most anticipated projects of 2018. Saif decked in a furry yellow coat, hair tied in multiple ponytails and a gun in hand is everything he needs in his career right now. The trailer to this bi-lingual film promises to be an unforgettable night.
The story of the film revolves around one night in the life of a man who is about to die of terminal stomach cancer. Given that he has little time, he decides to have the best night of his life. The trailer gives you moments of hilarity, dialogues on point and moments of remorse of not having lived life to the fullest before this night. The dark comedy is the story of six characters from different spheres, living in ambitious Mumbai. It reveals the city's dark, neglected underbelly.
The film directed by writer of Aamir Khan production ‘Delhi Belly’, Akshat Verma, has been through a rough patch this year. It was earlier set to release on September 8 but was stuck after the censor board demanded last minute edits. The film also boasts of a large and celebrated cast. Actors like Deepak Dobriyal, Vijay Raaz, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Sobhita Dhulipala, Akshay Oberoi, Isha Talwar, Shenaz Treasury, Shivam Patil, Amyra Dastur, Nary Singh and Neil Bhoopalam will all be seen in the flick.
Given the stellar trailer, this could well be the film that throws Saif Ali Khan back into the big league. It’s important for the Chote Nawab considering the actor has not seen a great year with both Chef and Rangoon tanking at the box office. The year 2018 will see Saif venturing into and experimenting with non-commercial cinema. One glance that Saif’s 2018 calendar and it looks like the actor is staring at a rather interesting year. Besides Kaalakaandi, the actor will also be seen in Nikhhil Advani’s Baazaar. The poster of the film gives you a sneak peek into his character where Saif is seen in an astute salt and pepper look against the backdrop of a city that looks like Mumbai. He will play a Gujarati businessman in this socio-economic drama.
Next year, Saif will feature in Netflix’s first Indian venture, Sacred Games. The series is based on Vikram Chandra's novel of the same name and is an adaptation which will be directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane.
Considering Saif Ali Khan is entering 2018 all guns blazing, we can only say, brace yourselves.
