Kalank poster: Alia Bhatt’s latest character is far removed from the ones she has played recently
Alia Bhatt's look from Kalank is out.
We have seen her as a bride in Raazi, but this one is different. Alia Bhatt in Kalank is more than what meets the eye. After sharing the character posters of #MenOfKalank, viz., Varun Dhawan, Sanjay Dutt and Aditya Roy Kapur, Karan Johar, today, is going to unveil the character posters of #WomenOfKalank. And the first one is Alia Bhatt. Karan Johar has introduced us to the beautiful Roop of Kalank. Roop in Hindi means beauty, and Alia does look pretty in this one.
But while we were admiring the picture we realized that the look actually is rather close to the one sported by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan from Jodha Akbar. The nose ring, the headgear and the neck piece do resemble Ash’s Jodha look. If you are Bollywood fan chances are that you will recognize the look from Jodha Akbar’s Khwaja Mere Khwaja song sung by AR Rahman. While Akbar (Hrithik Roshan) enjoys the company of sufi singers before his wedding night his new wife Jodha is rueing the fact that she has been married against her will.

After playing powerful, aggressive characters in Raazi and Gully Boy it looks like Alia’s Roop is a more subdued and docile character. We will have to wait and see how Alia fares in this multi-starrer which also stars the likes of Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit among others. While sharing the poster, KJo wrote, "To love her is to love fire. Presenting Roop," which emphasises on a struggle for love. So did Varun Dhawan's poster. While sharing Zafar's (Varun) poster, Alia had written, "Fearless in love. Fearless for love.. ". We can connect the dots. Is Kalank a fight for love or a different version of Romeo and Juliet? Only time will tell.
Kalank is said to be based in 40s and is produced by Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala. Being a multi-starrer one, expectation are much high from Kalank. Directed by Abhishek Varman, Kalank will release on April 19, 2019. We now await the character posters of Sonakshi Sinha and Madhuri Dixit.Read More
