Kangana Ranaut slams Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi over canceling their Karachi tour
Kangana Ranaut slams Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi.
February 14, 2019, is one of the saddest dates in India’s history as 40 CRPF jawans were killed when an explosive-laden car ran into the bus ferrying them. The country is mourning the death of its brave martyrs and people from all walks of life are taking to social media and expressing their grief on the terror attack. Post the attack, lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar and his wife, actor Shabana Azmi, announced that they cancelled their Pakistan tour. While the couple’s move was lauded by many, Bollywood's Queen - Kangana Ranaut - has slammed them and condemned the terrorist attack.
In an interview when Kangana was asked about the Pulwama terrorist attack which happened on Thursday, and this is what she had to say, “Pakistan has not only violated our nation’s security they have also attacked our dignity by openly threatening and humiliating us, we need to take decisive actions or else our silence will be misunderstood for our cowardice.... Bharat is bleeding today, the killing of our sons is like a dagger in our gut, anyone who lectures about non-violence and peace at this time should be painted black, put on a donkey and slapped by everyone on the streets.”
Later, when Kangana was informed about Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar’s decision to cancel their Pakistan trip, Kangana slammed the couple by calling them antinationalist and stated that why is the veteran actor even organising an event in Karachi, since when post the Uri attack, all ties with the neighbouring country have been cut off. “People like Shabana Azmi calling for a halt on cultural exchange, they are the ones who promote Bharat tere Tukade honge gangs.... why did they organise an event in Karachi in the first place when Pakistani artists have been banned after Uri attacks and now they are trying to save face. The film industry is full of such anti-nationals who boost the enemy’s morals in many ways but right now is the time to focus on decisive actions... Pakistan ban is not the focus, Pakistan destruction is.”
Earlier in the day, Javed and Shabana turned down the invitation to appear for a programme on poet Kaifi Azmi, Shabana’s father in Pakistan. The invitation to the couple was sent out by the Karachi Art Council. Javed took to twitter and shared news about his cancellation which was supposed to be a two-day conference.
We tried reaching out to Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi for their reaction on the same but our efforts went unanswered.
